Samsung India is off to fulfil its Corporate Social Responsibility by introducing a scholarship program known as ‘Star Scholar Program’ for the academic year 2019-20 which will prove helpful to Indian youth.
Every year, Samsung offers scholarships to deserving and praiseworthy students who want to pursue a full term B. Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech. + M.Tech.) course in any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) or a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in India. The main ideology behind this scholarship is to motivate the graduates.
This year Samsung India has allotted 560 scholarships to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV).
“At Samsung, we work towards nurturing talent through programs that encourage and support the youth. As ‘Samsung Star Scholar’ programme enters its fourth year, we plan to extend scholarships to 560 students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya across the country to peruse B.Tech. and M.Tech. courses at the prestigious IITs and NITs”. Peter Rhee, Corporate Vice President, Samsung India said in a statement.
Under this scholarship, Samsung provides scholarships upto 2 lakhs for helping the students with education expenses like tuition, examination, hostel and mess, for one academic year. Students can renew their scholarships if they fulfil the required criteria.
The candidates are selected on the basis of All India Rank (AIR) in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE Main) for the first year. The applicants can renew their scholarships for the subsequent years by maintaining Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA) or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CPGA) rating of 5 or above.
Total of 560 scholarships planned this year, 150 are supposed to be new applicants whereas 410 are granted the renewal.
The students are requested to read the instructions carefully so as to fill in the required details.
All the documents including applicants form and supporting receipts/documents must be attested and verified by the Institute’s Dean Academics. Only verified applications with all relevant documents will be accepted and considered eligible by the Selection Committee.
